It comes from a collection of letters and (mostly) postcards addressed to Gilbert Pattison, digitised by the Wren Library in Cambridge. While it’s attributed to Wittgenstein, the Wren Library suspects his contribution may have been limited to the metrical analysis!
If you have the chance, the collection is well worth exploring during what we hope will be a peaceful and happy holiday.
